Inspired by Nordic culture, which is all about nature – healthy food and lifestyle, coziness and light environment, food agriculture and manufacturing, Backbone Branding assembled all of this components into the MØS brand, a new Nordic restaurant in Moscow, where Scandinavian traditions and cuisine are situated in one place.
Guided by Nordic philosophy, the designers introduced its components thru the brand elements. They are constructed by details taken from the nature – food, animals, plants, different shapes.
Keeping minimalism and simplicity in each detail as well as the combination of black and white colour, are what make this brand extra sophisticated, attractive, memorable.

The fact that everything is specially designed for it, starting from the crockery, casing, wrapping, logo; the menu – tasty morsels conjoined with famous local wine; up to the interior – which was inspired by 1930s Sweden hotel foyers – the space coloured in a different shades of gray, filled with wooden ceiling and tables, plush seating, copper chandeliers and dim light, are what contribute to its success in business as well as being pointed up in lots of articles and became appealing for the guests.




Knowing that everyone eats food, and food culture is something that everybody can understand, the designers came up with the idea to tell the story about people from North thru illustrations that describe the concept of the ‘Nord’ – bakery, coffee roasting and coffee shop, drink bar, restaurant.


Relaying on gathered experience on eating patterns, food ethnography, food history, food geography, food sociology, and the culture of food in the Nordic countries, they transformed all elements into simple icons while still loading them with character and distinctive qualities.
Except black and white, they used the other colours in order to distinguish taste and to give a slightly insight in the product.




Minimalistic and elegant logo and name design, stylish interior, the story that is spoken thru simple drawings. Clean, impressive, inspiring. Fresh and organic look that has for a long time been associated with nutrition and health.


Another example of this kind of design with minimal visual identity, was introduced by Tara Rego, thru the illustrations for Bee. Bar e ristorante veg. Using minimal and simple features she brought us into the concept of the restaurant itself.
Black typography logo, on the white paper with a greenish stamp and colourful drawings that remind on vegetables, fruit, gardens – vegetarians; a black dot with the shape of a hexagon which refers to a beehive and matches with the name of the restaurant. Simple and clean look that associates with healthy food and lifestyle.
